Health Officials: Hepatitis C Test Needed for MN Baby Boomers

Attention baby boomers - have you been tested for hepatitis C lately?

The Minnesota Department of Health is reminding people born from 1945 through 1965 to be tested for hepatitis C. The reminder comes for national hepatitis awareness month.

Currently, about 39,000 people statewide are living with the virus.

Hennepin Co. Voting to Align Benefits With Freedom to Marry Bill

The Hennepin County Board of commissioners will vote to direct staff to align its policies, procedures, and employee benefit coverage to match the Freedom to Marry Bill on Tuesday.

On August 1, Hennepin County staff will be prepared to both process marriage applications for LGBT couples and extend benefit coverage to any married county employee.

Boaters Anchored Down by High Gas Prices

Gas at the Sunnyside Marina is $5.89 a gallon. Gordon's boat holds 800 gallons. He'll pay more than $4,700 to fill up.

Forest Service Contractor Killed by Falling Tree ID'd

A man working for the U.S. Forest Service has been killed by a falling tree in northeastern Minnesota.
    
Lake County sheriff's officials say 59-year-old Douglas Harris of Wayzata was cutting down trees near Ely Thursday afternoon when he wasn't able to get out of the way of a falling tree.
