Smithers to Appear in Court on Fatal Punch Charge | Crime

The 17-year-old charged in the death of an Orono graduate is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Jessie Smithers of Sauk Rapids is accused of punching 20-year-old Colton Gleason last month in an alley in St. Cloud. Colton died a day later.

Smithers is charged with second degree murder. He was supposed to appear last week, but the judge granted the defense’s request to postpone the hearing so they could spend more time reviewing the case file.
