Minnetonka Yards Ready for Spring | Home & Garden
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
This unusually warm, mild winter has allowed ambitious residents to keep doing yard work. Now those who need to drop off tree pruning will have their chance starting in March. The drop-off site at the Minnetonka Public Works facility will be open Saturdays starting March 3.
According to the city forester, winter is the ideal time to trim many trees. Oaks are less susceptible to oak wilt from November to March and the insects and tree diseases that show up in warmer months aren't as prevalent in the winter. So if you've been trimming and have tree pruning to get rid of the City of Minnetonka is prepared to help. You'll need to show ID or a utility bill to prove you're a Minnetonka resident. Trash, grass, leaves, dirt, sod, lumber, fencing, or wood scraps are not accepted. Also, commercial businesses are not allowed to participate.
The Minnetonka Public Works facility will take you trimmings Saturdays in March. But they will expand hours in April. The regular brush drop-off program starts Monday, April 9.
